My Journey into Photography Pam Lewis.
My introduction into photography was sparked in the early 80’s when I was invited by Cled and our two boys to join the local photographic club ostensibly to help the other ladies to “make the teas and coffees”.
However, I enjoyed the photographic side of things more and found myself entering competitions alongside the men.
My first real camera was a secondhand Leica R3 which was faulty and had to be returned and was exchanged for a Leica R4s Mod. 2 which I still own.
After a couple of years I took the Women’s Institute Photographic Course gaining a Distinction and progressed to the City & Guilds Photographic qualification for which I got another Distinction which in turn allowed me to become a Licentiate member of the RPS.
By this time I was hooked and took 'O' and 'A' level exams in photography.
As I now had an R8 I entered the digital age with the DMR which was and still is beautiful and still produces wonderful images.
Eventually I found that combination much too heavy and discovered Micro 4/3rds but I am able to remain with Leica/Panasonic lenses
Needless to say I still have a great interest in photography and I hope I always will.
Pam Lewis.
