Our Next Meeting

A Preview of Stanton House Hotel

Having previously visited Stanton House earlier in the year by myself (but briefly and favourably), Sally and I had a more leisurely overnight visit with dinner but arrived in time for lunch, when we were joined by Gareth and Caroline Lewis. Both Caroline and Gareth agreed with us that Stanton House Hotel, was an ideal venue for celebrating the Leica Fellowship’s 50th Anniversary.
Although it is correct to say that it is near to Swindon, the feel of the venue is very much a ‘Cotswolds’ manor house, on the edge of the close-by village of Stanton Fitzwarren, where Sally and I, after bidding ‘goodbye’ to Gareth and Caroline, had an after-lunch stroll, just managing to avoid the rain.
The hotel is quite large, more than sufficient for our needs. Our two meeting rooms are on either side of what was the original Entrance Hall. The larger of the two rooms is our private dining room and will be laid out in our usual arrangement of tables of eight. This lovely room has a dual aspect of views over the garden and grounds (In the accompanying photograph, the room is as for a wedding). Across the hall, our meeting room will be set out with ‘theatre’ style seating.
Our bedroom was very comfortable and the breakfast was an excellent self-service in the dining room, where anyone arriving early for the week-end, will dine. Dinner prices are quite reasonable for the calibre of the hotel but, of course, is included in our weekend cost. Sally had her camera to hand, so we enclose some pictures to add verisimilitude (it’s in your ‘Roget’) to my verbal descriptions. All in all, a very positive and enjoyable visit for our important anniversary.

We will issue more details closer to the meeting
