Keith Walker - The Photowalk
(Or an excuse for a laugh)
Every couple of months I get together with some other Leica ‘M’ users
with whatever excuse we can find for a ‘photowalk’ The actual photo taking is probably about a third of our time together, and the rest is for chatting, drinking coffee and the compulsory snack.
We are a bunch of very mixed backgrounds, mostly retired but do include one working professional photographer. All are passionate about Leica M cameras and M fit lenses. I say 'fit' as one of our number has a large collection of old lenses of various makes that he has converted to M bayonet mount, which sometimes means a new rear helical.
The format of the day is to meet at a designated coffee shop, usually, but not exclusively in London. We have a bit of a catch up and when we are all assembled we go in search of images - very slowly and swapping lenses to try.
As you can see in one of the images, when we last met a couple of weeks ago we were approached by a young lady and asked if we could help her with her camera. It was good to see her using a ‘proper’ camera rather than a phone-camera, or should that be camera-phone?
The next step is finding somewhere suitable to eat and chat. This is
probably the heart of the day and I always come away having learnt something and been enthused and motivated to continue my Leica journey.
A set of images from our last meet is attached taken on the M11-P with 50mm APO-Summicron.

Comments
By Stephen Arnold: Excellent light quality and reflections on the table
By Pam: These photos are very interesting Keith. We are trying to g to organise something similar on a smaller scale in our camera club too
It is great to get out as a small group and swap ideas etc
Are we going to meet you at one of our regular meetings? It would be great to put an ace to the name. Thanks for your regular contributions
By Davidaskham: Keith, what a wonderful way to rejuvenate a special interest and keep in touch with humankind. My recourse is the telephone. There is never a need for feeling isolated.
By Denis Gilbert my: A great read , I would love to have joined you but anno domini precludes me from walking too well , continue to enjoy .
By Keith Walker: Hi Pam
We have met a number of times at past Weekends! I will not be at Worksop but plan to be at Swindon as long as it doesn't clash with the Leica Society weekend which has been an issue in the past. For our mini meets we are 6 to 8 which seems to work well.
By Pam: Hello Keith
Hope to see you in Swindon
Pam
By Dennis Steel: What a brilliant day out, with friends and Leica cameras. l wish I could join Khoi.
By Keith Walker: Dennis - all welcome. Perhaps there should be some micro-Fellowship gatherings!
By Ken Davis: Now there's an interesting idea. We could look at 'area' get togethers????
